- Charter Operator
Charter Operator
An air charter operator must pass a set of requirements in additional to their certification before operating chartered flights. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) must certify both the charter company and the pilots before they can fly.
An Operator’s Obligation
At Stratos Jets, safety is our main concern. The potential operators are thoroughly screened before being selected as an air charter operator. To ensure the pilots we hire hold safety in the highest regard, we’ve created an in-house pre-screening program. The program requirements include:
- Each operator must be in compliance with Part 135 of the Federal Aviation Regulations
- A long track record for providing safe and successful private flights
- The financial stability to be able to focus on aircraft maintenance
- Regularly conducted checks on all already approved aircraft and aircrew
In addition to our pre-screening program, all operators must be willing to be audited by a pair of third-party safety auditing firms: Wyvern and ARGUS.
A Pilot’s Requirements
Before being considered as an air charter Captain, they must be:
- Certified as an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)
- Hold at least 3,000 hours of flight time
- 1,500 of those hours must be in the capacity of a Captain
To qualify as a First Officer, the following requirements must be met:
- Certified as a Commercial/Multi-Engine Pilot
- Hold at least 1,000 hours of total flight time
- 500 of those hours must be as a Captain
