With its breathtaking mountains, stunning volcanoes, beautiful bays and abundant fishing, there truly is no other place on earth like the Alaska Peninsula. Named for the peninsula which it inhabits, the Lake and Peninsula Borough covers much of the Alaska Peninsula and has a population of fewer than 1,500 inhabitants. Given its remote location and lack of road access, inhabitants rely on the traditional fishing and subsistence lifestyle, while the region is economically linked to commercial fishing.
With winter temperatures often well below freezing, the best time to visit the region is in the summer when you experience warm days and nights under the midnight sun.
