In honor of his hit song, the City of Folsom recently completed the Johnny Cash Trail, a nearly 3-mile trail winding between the Folsom Historic District and Folsom Lake Crossing Trail. Here you’ll find two stunning bridges inspired by local sites, including the architecture found near the prison Cash brought to fame.
Of course, you don’t have to be a Johnny Cash fan to enjoy your time in Folsom. This iconic California city offers so many more attractions worth seeing.
If uncovering the history of the areas you visit is your thing, stop by the Historic Folsom District. Here you’ll find several historic sites. The Folsom History Museum houses historic maps, artifacts and stories behind the origins of Folsom and the Gold Rush. Pioneer Village is an outdoor museum with interactive exhibits worth checking out, and the Folsom Railroad Museum can be found inside a Santa Fe passenger train car.
Folsom is also a lake town in nature. Folsom Lake caters to water lovers from all over and offers several access points along its 75 miles of shoreline. There’s also a marina for those that take their water sports seriously. Lake Natoma is smaller than Folsom Lake, but still offers plenty of recreational activities for those looking for a beach day.
