The question isn’t if there’s anything to do in Greenville and at Moosehead Lake, but what you’re going to do first.
Spring and summer visitors will have days packed full of fun. Start the day with a cruise on the biggest lake in Maine or see if you can catch one of the salmon or trout that swim in the lake. Go back in time on the water and learn more about steamboating with a ride on the Katahdin through the Moosehead Marine Museum. ATVing, whitewater rafting and golfing are all great ways to enjoy the Greenville area in the warmer months.
Winter visitors will be spoiled for choice in the region as well. Traverse the loop trail at Big Squaw Ski Resort or get some downhill skiing in at the Appalachian Mountain Club. Snowshoe in Lily Bay State Park or the Birches in nearby Rockwood.
While most people come to the area for the lake, there is always something new to explore in town in Greenville. Not only do they have stores with fun names like the Mud Puddle Mercantile and Kamp Kamp Moosehead Lake Indian Store, there is lakeside dining at the Dockside Tavern and fresh seafood at Flatlanders Pub.
A jet charter airport in Greenville helps visitors understand why Moosehead Lake has it’s name: moose outnumber people three to one in the area! Check out the areas near Lily Bay Road or Lazy Tom Bog for your best chance at spotting a moose in the wild.
