Our Different Types of Private Jets: Advantages and Disadvantages
Gulfstream
The Gulfstream G650 has a 6,600 NM range, which means it can make a leap from New York to Dubai without a stop. This private jet is especially known for its safety and advanced technology. Each wing, made from a single piece of aluminum, along with the advanced flight deck, enhances operational efficiency and redundancy. The Enhanced Flight Vision System allows pilots to land in low visibility conditions.
The G500 is built for takeoffs and landings and is especially suited for high-altitude airports like Vail, Colorado. With one of the most flexible layouts, this type of luxury private jet can be designed for business or pleasure.
Embraer
Embraer makes some of the best types of small private jets including the Phenom 100EV which has high performance matched only by its luxury cabin. It is known for safety and reliability, and is often bought by executives who like to fly themselves.
Speaking of safety, the Embraer Phenom 300E has been the best-selling light jet for ten years running. It has the Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS) which warns the pilots if they’re coming in too steep or too fast. This comfortable light jet can seat seven, plus crew.
The Embraer’s Praetor 500 is touted as the world’s most disruptive and technologically advanced jet. As a midsize jet, it can cross continents and oceans, traveling from Seattle to Miami or New York to Barcelona. It also has one of the healthiest environments, with standard HEPA filters that remove 99.97% of bacteria from the air.
Cessna
The Cessna Citation comes in six types of private jets and prices. The Citation Longitude–the largest Cessna–is a 9-passenger plane with a 3500 NM range. Made to have one of the quietest cabins in private jet travel for a Super-mid size, it is the perfect plane for business meetings.
Other Cessna aircraft include the Citation Latitude, Citation XLS Gen 2, Citation CJ4 Gen2, Citation CJ3+, and the Citation M2 Gen2. The Citation M2 Gen2 is the smallest of the Cessnas, with a range of 1,550 NM and a speed of 404 knots. The plane is one of the safest small craft with an aluminum airframe made with system redundancies.
Dassault Falcon
The Falcon 7X claims to be the first business jet to use fighter jet technology, particularly the first Digital Flight Control System. The jets are widely used across the world, operating out of 41 different countries.
The smaller Falcon 900LX may be a Heavy jet, but it has plenty of room with three separate living areas, including one for work, one for dining, and one for sleep. The FalconEye is the world’s first Combined Vision System which gives flight crews situational awareness in all weather conditions, day or night.
Pilatus
The Pilatus PC-12 Turbo-Prop is one of the leaders in small private planes, with 1700 aircraft made which have logged more than seven million flight hours. A range of 1,800 NM at a speed of 290 knots will make this an optimal plane for short and mid-sized hops, carrying up to eight passengers comfortably.
King Air
Another Turboprop, the King Air 260 is a great option with a maximum of 9 occupants – 7 passengers plus 2 crew – while still going 1800 NM at 312 knots. The IS&S Thrustsense Autothrottle with Overtorque and Over Temp protection provides precision control to the pilots during takeoff and landing.
The King Air 350 is another option we charter frequently. It is a longer airframe and seats 9 passengers has ratings very similar to the 260, with a range of 1806 NM at 315 knots. It can carry 9 passengers comfortably.
Bombardier Challenger
The Bombardier Challenger 350 is the most desirable private jet type in the marketplace at this time based on hourly rate, cabin experience, and range. It is currently the best-selling business jet among corporations and charter air carriers. It is known for having the largest and roomiest cabin in its class, and extra steps have been taken to make for a smooth ride and a quiet cabin. It can make the flight from Los Angeles to Hawaii as easily as it can from New York to Los Angeles.
The Bombardier Challenger 650 is the best selling large business jet, which has a range of 4000 NM, a speed of 0.85 mach, and can hold 10 passengers. Noted for its reliability, it has an industry-leading 99.9% dispatch reliability, which gives passengers peace of mind.
Private Jet Facts
What Do You Call Private Jets?
Private jets can be classified into several categories: Turboprops, very light jets, light jets, super-light jets, midsize jets, super-mid jets, heavy business jets, ultra-long-range heavy jets, and airliners.
Are Private Jets a Smoother Ride?
Private jets have a few benefits that give them a smoother ride than commercial jets. The biggest is that turbulence is caused by weather, and private jets are better able to avoid bad weather.
In fact, many private jets fly at higher altitudes than commercial jets just for this reason. They can avoid storms and therefore keep the ride smooth. Also, at that altitude, there is much less air traffic, so they’ll very rarely have to change course.
What Is the Safest Private Plane?
The safest private jet currently in use is the Cessna Citation Sovereign, which has an incredible safety record. The Cessna Sovereign launched in 2004 and has recorded zero accidents in all that time.
The next safest private jet is the Falcon 2000, which has had no major incidents since its launch in 1993.
What Is the Best Private Jet Available?
While the quality and luxury of a private jet will vary widely based on the amenities with which it is equipped, there is one clear answer here. The private jet that is widely known as the best in the world is an Airbus A380 which belongs to Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia and is priced at $500 million. It’s not available for charter.
Are There Beds on Private Jets?
Yes, many of the jets that we have mentioned above have beds or have breathable seating; seats that can fold flat forming a bed. Some of the beds are made from seats that fold down while other jets have full beds in part of the cabin. If you want a private jet with beds, please ask about it when you book.
What Is the Range of a Private Jet?
The average range of a private jet is between 2000 and 3000 NM. However, the private jet with the longest range is the Boeing Business Jet 777X which has a range of 11,645 NM.
What Is the Speed of the Fastest Private Jet?
The fastest speed of a private jet is 0.95 mach. Several private jets mentioned above achieve this speed.
