Private Jet Charter Safety Regulations & Programs
Many people have developed confidence in the safety of commercial flights and are concerned about the safety of a small private jet. At Stratos Jet Charters, private jet charter safety is our primary concern and we want to assure you that flying on a private jet organized by Stratos Jet Charters is just as safe, if not safer. The jet charter industry is carefully regulated and our team of jet charter representatives are trained to identify and recommend aircraft that are maintained to the highest standards for each and every flight we arrange.
Private Jet Charter Safety Standards
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) governs the operation of all aircraft in the United States, and requires privately owned aircraft that are used for private jet charter flights to adhere to Federal Aviation Regulations Part 135. Part 135 outlines specific regulations for smaller aircraft, which are in many ways much stricter than regulations for large commercial aircraft. In compliance with these basic benchmarks for private jet charter safety, Stratos Jet Charters only recommends aircraft and operators that are in full compliance with FAA regulations.
FAA regulations cover a range of private jet charter safety concerns, including aircraft maintenance and pilot experience. Charter aircraft are regularly inspected by the FAA as well as third-party auditors, ensuring all private jets are in tip top shape for every charter flight.
Pilot Experience Requirements
Pilot experience is easily one of the most crucial components of jet charter safety. FAA regulations require charter aircraft operators to have a minimum of 1,500 hours of flying experience, along with a commercial pilot rating or higher. Working with Stratos Jet Charters to book a private jet charter you can be assured that your crew members will always exceed this requirement.
Stratos Jet Charters Safety Programs
Because the private jet charter industry is carefully regulated, most charter agencies will meet the minimum requirements to stay in business. However, Stratos Jet Charters understands that nothing is more important than your safety and that of your families when you’re flying. That’s why we developed a supplementary due-diligence program with additional safety criteria for all private jet charters. This program screens every pilot to ensure their experience before your flight is booked. It is our commitment to ensure that our clients fly under the command of two highly-qualified pilots.
Air Carrier Due Diligence Program
Stratos Jet Charters implemented the Air Carrier Due Diligence Program to guarantee experienced pilots for every charter flight we arrange. The pilot in command of the aircraft must have at least 3,000 hours of aviation flight experience (double the FAA requirement), an ATP pilot rating (the highest achievable), and a minimum of 250 flight hours in the type of aircraft to be flown. This program also demands that first officer (second pilot) has at least 1,500 hours of aviation flight experience. Finally, the pilots are required to participate in annual recurrent training.
In addition to ensuring highly experienced crew requirements, the Air Carrier Due Diligence Program holds charter aircraft to strict maintenance standards that exceed FAA regulations.
Safety Management System
A Safety Management System (SMS) is a comprehensive set of internal protocols that keep safety and security at the forefront of decision making, day in and day out. This system features ongoing staff training, hazard categorization, and proactive risk management.
Emergency Response Program
Unfortunately, no matter how strictly jet charter safety precautions are followed, aviation accidents do occur. In light of this reality, Stratos Jet Charters implemented a detailed emergency response program to achieve the best outcome in case of an aircraft malfunction. When you charter a private jet, be sure to choose an air charter agency that takes these precautions.
