Positive Market Changes

There are indications that the jet charter travel market is recovering after bottoming out in March and April 2020. As Joel Thomas, founder and CEO of Stratos Jet Charters notes, “We are seeing signs of increasing demand particularly for the second half of May and into June as the ‘snowbirds’ begin to migrate back to the North East.” This trend is reflected in business travel activity.

At the beginning of March, business travel represented only about 15 percent of flight activity. As of early May, the number had climbed to 33 percent. Analysts suggest it may take over a year for the jet charter industry to rebound, but each successful flight is a victory worth celebrating. 

Increased Safety Measures 

Another significant change is an industry-wide focus on jet charter travel safety. Stratos Jet Charters has created a culture of safety in all our operations since inception, but during these unprecedented times, the margin of safety expanded.

From a virus-containment perspective, private aviation already has many advantages in place, like:

  • Charter jets tend to carry 8-14 passengers, again reducing your risk of contact.

     

Some of the newly introduced safety measures include:

  • Masks and gloves for crewmembers, including security personnel, baggage handlers, and caterers.

  • In between flights, the aircraft will be disinfected and sealed to minimize contaminants.

  • Crewmembers also follow social-distancing protocols, to ensure they remain healthy between flights.

  • Larger aircraft can be requested to ensure social distancing in-flight.
