From skydiving to exploring the Makapuu Lighthouse to relaxing on the world-famous Waikiki beach, there’s no shortage of entertainment when you fly to a jet charter airport in Oahu, Hawaii.
Long called the heart of Hawaii, Oahu is the third-largest of the Hawaiian Islands and home to the state capital, Honolulu. Your journey across Oahu begins on the southwestern coast at Kalaeloa Airport. Also known as John Rodgers Field, this small airport is situated in Kapolei. Known as the island’s “second city,” the first being Honolulu, Kapolei is the perfect place to make your home base as you explore all that Oahu has to offer.
Once you’ve settled into your hotel or beautiful oceanfront resort, head south to explore Nimitz, White Plains, Ewa and Pu’uloa Beaches. While not as famed as Waikiki, which sits near the center of Honolulu, these beaches offer stunning white sand and are a great, family-friendly alternative to the crowds found closer to the state capital.
With diverse tropical terrain and unmatched ocean views no matter where you find yourself, Oahu is a hiker’s haven. Lace-up the hiking boots and climb to the top of Leahi, also known as the Diamond Head volcanic crater. From atop your perch, take in the breathtaking panoramic view of Waikiki. For a leisurely stroll, head to the popular walking and biking paths of Ala Moana Beach or Kapiolani Parks.
Before your plane goes wheels up once again, be sure to celebrate Polynesian tradition with a feast of Kalua pig and poi (taro) while you enjoy a luau.
