Just off the east coast of the United States, the densely populated Long Island has many New York ‘bedroom communities’ within its four counties. On the south shore of ‘the Island’ is Town of Islip, one of ten towns in Suffolk County. With the introduction of the Long Island Rail Road in the 1860s, the tourism industry followed very quickly; boating, fishing, clamming and swimming were favoured holiday pastimes. Hotels and summer homes sprung up along the landscape until the Great Depression of the 1930s. Then, as soldiers returned home after WW2, there was a housing shortage in New York. Residents of New York migrated over to Long Island and the Islip farmlands transformed into suburbs. Cool sea-breezes sometimes interrupt the usual continental humidity. Average summer temperatures hover around the low 80s Fahrenheit and winter temperatures average low to mid-20s.

As always great coordination. I was not on the flight but rather my family and Stratos arranged everything. Even with a winter storm, my wife being delayed, De-icing and two sick kids on-board, Stratos updated me while I was over seas and I knew everything was handled without any issues. The pilots we super kind and accommodating and it made for a wonderful trip. All ground transport, catering and logistics went flawlessly and the Stratos team even arranged my ground transport meeting them from a commercial flight. WE were told to go to First Aviation Services terminal at Teterboro but our plane was at another terminal so we wasted over 45 minutes trying to find our aircraft and our agent was not at all helpful. In fact he told us someone was coming to pick us up and they never came and we had to find someone to help us get to the terminal our plane was located at. The agent asked us for our rental car info but when we landed in Naples the rental car was not at the terminal and we had to find a ride over to the other side of the air field to get our rental car. The flight was great but the handling of the pre and post flight were below normal and not what I am used to when I fly private.
