The largest and most populous island in the British Virgin Islands, Tortola, which means turtle dove in Spanish, measures 13.5 miles long and 3 miles wide. It not only has a beautiful coastline with a long swath of white beaches, it is also mountainous. The largest mountain is Mount Sage, which has a summit of 1,750 feet. Tortola is also home to Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands, which has a population of close 10,000 residents.

Those visiting the British Virgin Islands can enjoy a large array of outdoor activities including sailing, surfing, scuba diving, kite boarding, kayaking, sailing, and boating. Many who visit Tortola hire a bareboat or crewed sailing charter such as a motorized yacht, catamaran, or monohull sailboat to see some of the
most stunning coastline along this hidden gem of the Caribbean islands. While out on the water, why not go on a diving excursion to Rainbox Canyons or Alice in Wonderland, where you will encounter a large variety of brilliant multi-colored coral reefs and a stunning array of sea life, or grab some scuba gear and explore the wreck of the R.M.S Rhone. You can also rent a sea kayak to get up close and personal with the shorebirds and wildlife that line the coast and discover the many white sand beaches along the inlets and barrier islands near Tortola. This includes Scrub Island, which is known for its famed beach resort and marina. If life out on the water is not your forte, no need to worry, an array of on-land pursuits abound on the island. Road Town's main shopping district, Main Street, offers the best shopping on the island. There are a number of galleries and boutiques selling everything from art by local and Caribbean artists, spices, fine wine, souvenirs, nautical antiques, hand-crafted jewelry, and more. Main Street also contains several historical landmarks, including the Post Office, which was built in the mid 1800s; St. Phillips Anglican Church, constructed in 1840; the Virgin Islands' Folk Museum, and Britannic Hall, a large plantation-style house that was built in 1910. If you looking for an excursion, why not plan a day hike to Mount Sage, where you can take in one of the best views of the Tortola shoreline and the surrounding British Virgin Islands. The park features a restaurant and gift shop, where you can pick up a trail map. For those who prefer flatter terrain, Josiah Bay on the northeast side of the island is a great place to swim, snorkel, surf and sunbathe. Enjoy a drink and snack at the beach bar. I made all of the arrangements for the charter flight for my boss and his family. I worked with Joel Thomas personally, who took the time with me to show the jet options available, all the while considering my boss's medical issues and care requirements. He emailed a jet comparison guide with photographs to view side-by-side so that I could make a wise and informed decision, and walked me through them over the phone. He was determined to provide the best possible experience for everyone. Joel made it all so easy, and it was clear after conversations with him that he has a heart for people and genuinely cares about their needs. I ordered in-flight catering, over the phone, which could not have been any easier. The food was plentiful and exceptional! My boss called me the next day asking that I inquire as to who the local caterer was that supplied the food, as he wants to make sure that we use them in the future. They staged all of the food on beautiful white platters that looked classy and elegant, as though it was all prepared for red carpet guests. And every selection was freshly prepared that day and over the top in flavor! The pilot was very nice and personable and clearly cared about the comfort and safety of his passengers. The plane was extremely comfortable and very luxurious. The seating was perfect for the six of them and their cat, Molly! I received a call the next day from my boss's grown daughter, and all she did was rave about how it was first class all the way! She said I always do such a great job. LOL! It was Joel and the Stratos team that did all the work! My part was easy! Ohhh, and Joel also went out of his way to arrange for ground transportation upon their flight's arrival. I can say from personal experience over the years, that flying does not get any better than going first class with Joel Thomas and his team at Stratos Jet Charters. I want to thank them for making me look like the best assistant ever!!

From pre-trip planning to updates via text message on your way to the airport, Stratos had us covered. We made our way from Emirates @ JFK and the FOB transfer was easy. Joel had already updated Julie (my assistant) before we landed that there were long delays out of JFK due to weather. The transfer to FBO was easy and they were expecting us. The plane was comfortable and modern and the crew could not have been kinder. Thank you guys as always for a great trip. Flight was great and the crew took us right past the storms and my one year old son slept the whole trip; a much needed reprieve for my wife and I.

I wouldn't recommend this plane that much though. One pilot was nice the other kinda ambivalent. The temp of the plane was either hot or cold and the electrical plugs not functioning. It was transportation only. But we are so happy to all be here with the rest of the family. it was worth the effort.
